A Great Start

Published on September 7th, 2015

Dear Parents,

We have had a wonderful first two weeks of school. The children are becoming comfortable with our class and have learned many new routines:

how and where to hang up your school bag
wash your hands when you arrive at school
where to sit at carpet time
sitting crisscross applesauce, hands in your lap (well, we are working on this!)
the roles of a zookeeper, room leader and snack leader
how to answer the question of the day
using their key to move from play areas
how to hold a pair of scissors and cut
what is expected at cleanup time
how to pour their own drink
how to load their school bag

Teaching these routines wrapped around name recognition and our Minds In Motion program have kept us very busy!! We are excited to be starting into our first unit, My School My Friends.

I must say my favorite part of the last two weeks have been the joy of getting to know each of the children. What makes them smile and laugh (definitely the Goodbye Song), their talents, their unique personality that makes them who they are. This is the joy I receive from being their preschool teacher. Thank you for sharing your child with me and letting me watch them grow and learn this school year!
